$174 Affiliate Income This Month.

I've have now rebuilt my old site that has been a consistent money earner for some time. This was the first niche site I built and it was quite a challenge at the time! I'm a bit sentimental about it.

So far this month I have made $124 in affiliate sales from this site even though I had it offline for about a week to rebuild it. It earned more when it had adsense on it but considering that I've done no work on since I set it up a year ago I can't complain. The articles I wrote and submitted to ezine articles is the only traffic it has, and it gets consistent traffic every month.

So this week I have rebuilt that site on a wordpress blog. Thanks to Amy's step by step instructions at The Niche Blogger wordpress is no longer the daunting problem it used to be for me. I could never really get the hang of it before but I'm becoming a convert fast! It is proving a much more efficient way of building sites than what I used to do in the past. I plan on moving this site over to wordpress in the near future.

Progress:

Project 1
Consulting for online clients is on hold for now as I am just too busy at work. I may return to this a bit later.

Project 2
I am writing articles for article packs. I will try and write one pack a week till I have enough to publish the site.

Project 3
Selling my information product via my revamped site is basically ready to go I just need to set up the download and payment information. I hope to complete this by next weekend.

Project 4
No new work on the membership site projects.

Project 5
I am in the process of setting up my own article directory. I stumbled across a brilliant domain name for articles in an area that I work in all the time so I grabbed it. I just need to work out the best way to monetise the article site without using adsense.

So I'm plodding along with my making money online ventures when I get some spare time,

Is Amy Bass Crazy?

Last night I joined The Niche Blogger and it is fantastic! Amy Bass has done a great job of simplifying the whole process of niche blogging. She explains things at a very basic level and patiently answers all those newbie questions. I can really recommend this, especially if you are new to earning money online. But the price was not what I expected...

Is Amy Bass Crazy?

She is charging less than $10 a month for The Niche Blogger!

I joined lots of memberships sites when I first started online and wasted lots of money. Most were overpriced (some $79 a month!) and not very patient with beginners problems and questions. Why Amy is charging such a low price is a mystery to a lot of people, but her site is going to help a lot of people get started earning income online!

Amy's site takes you one step at a time through the process of setting up niche blogs that are designed to earn income. I only recommend products and services that I have used myself on this blog and I can truthfully recommend this if you are just starting out.

I am not at all technical when it comes to computers. Since I joined The Niche Blogger last night I have easily set up four word press blogs on old domains just by following Amy's instructions in using fantastico. Those blogs are now ready for me to start adding posts and income streams to this afternoon. I've never had much luck with wordpress before.

Is Any Bass crazy? No, not at all. She's a hard working stay at home mum of 4 who has really applied herself to learning internet marketing over the last year. She's making money online and sharing what she knows. And now we get to benefit from her hard work.

Thanks Amy!

Plodding along

I've been flat out this week working in the offline world. But I still plodded along with my online income projects. This weeks progress:

Project 2:
I have finished building the site.
Two article packs are completed.

Project 3:
Auto responder series for the first e-report finished
Free sign up report completed
Squeeze page built (to collect email addresses)
Sales page completed
Sales letter page completed

I am still in the process of transferring my sites over to hostgator. The next thing I need to do is write the content for my membership site. I already have the domain name, I bought it a long time ago. I also have a membership site script ready to use so this weeks task is writing articles!

 More detail later!

Changing hosting accounts and autoresponders

When choosing a hosting account you need to consider which is the best for your needs. This weekend I changed hosting companies from 1&1 to Hostgator. They have been very helpful in getting me set up and we are about to start the process of transferring my sites and domains over. Their customer service has been great!

Why did I swap to Hostgator?
  • they are cheap, $10 for hosting unlimited sites
  • they use fantastico so I can upload a wordpress blog at the click of a button
  • they have 24 hour (very patient) support available & they DO help!
  • instant set up, no waiting time
  • a tonne of free templates to use
  • easy transfer of sites when I want to sell them
  • help to transfer domains from another host

So my sites are offline while they get transferred and they will be revamped before they are live again. I am thinking long term, and one of my strategies to make money online is eventually to flip websites and membership sites. So I want to be able to create sites easily, use wordpress blogs, transfer them when sold and have a good helpdesk along the way.

Progress.

Project 1: Online consulting

  • installed Skype
  • set prices and hours of work

Project 2 : Selling plr packages

  • my daughter is going to write articles on a few niche topics

Project 3: Creating & sell information products

  • one e-report finished

Project 4:

  • Topics chosen for two membership sites
  • Both will use domains already registered (old niche sites)
  • I am halfway through one e-book
  • 2 out of eight lessons and worksheets for an e-course are completed
  • First 5 autoresponder messages completed

Total cost this week:

  • $10 hosting
  • $14.95 autoresponder

No income expected because everything is offline at the moment.

Tracking Online Business Progress

Now that I have resigned from my job and started my own business (offline). I have decided to get serious about making money online. A few days ago I joined a coaching program which cost me $200. I paid for this with money earned online.

I plan on setting some serious goals and blogging my progress, costs and income here. I will be reporting the profit. It bugs me when bloggers say how much they earned, but not how much money the spent making it!
I will be updating as things happen, sort of twittering.

My initial ideas for online income projects:
  1. consulting for online clients

  2. selling plr article packs in niches that I work in offline

  3. creating information products to sell

  4. starting niche membership sites

I have looked at my strengths and weaknesses and writing and teaching is one of my strengths. So I will focus my online activities on projects that mainly consist of writing.

I have thought long and hard about how much I want to work considering I am trying to pay off debt, but also slow down and have time to enjoy life. Initially I will work three days offline and two days online. Then as my online income increases I will consider my options and maybe cut down. The idea is to also build in passive income streams to allow us to have an ongoing income as we get closer to retirement.

Project 1

The first project I am concentrating on is setting up an online consulting side to my business. I will consult by email and later by phone for a limited number of clients. The beuaty of this is that clients can be anywhere around the world and I am not limited to a 9-5 working day. I can do my work in the early morning and then I have the rest of the day free.

Progress so far:

  • checked on indemnity insurance and am covered

  • selected on specific niche of my work suited to online consulting

  • set my fees

  • building my website (almost done)

  • found a secure, encrypted email system to use

Still To Do:

  • set up skype for online calls

  • set up payment system

  • create a set of downloads that clients can use

  • create a voice recording welcome to the site

  • create a set of videos that clients can use

  • run a trial, maybe offer a discount so I can test drive it

  • market the site

  • set specific working hours

Costs so far:

Registered a domain name $10
