Tracking Online Business Progress

Now that I have resigned from my job and started my own business (offline). I have decided to get serious about making money online. A few days ago I joined a coaching program which cost me $200. I paid for this with money earned online.

I plan on setting some serious goals and blogging my progress, costs and income here. I will be reporting the profit. It bugs me when bloggers say how much they earned, but not how much money the spent making it!
I will be updating as things happen, sort of twittering.

My initial ideas for online income projects:
  1. consulting for online clients

  2. selling plr article packs in niches that I work in offline

  3. creating information products to sell

  4. starting niche membership sites

I have looked at my strengths and weaknesses and writing and teaching is one of my strengths. So I will focus my online activities on projects that mainly consist of writing.

I have thought long and hard about how much I want to work considering I am trying to pay off debt, but also slow down and have time to enjoy life. Initially I will work three days offline and two days online. Then as my online income increases I will consider my options and maybe cut down. The idea is to also build in passive income streams to allow us to have an ongoing income as we get closer to retirement.

Project 1

The first project I am concentrating on is setting up an online consulting side to my business. I will consult by email and later by phone for a limited number of clients. The beuaty of this is that clients can be anywhere around the world and I am not limited to a 9-5 working day. I can do my work in the early morning and then I have the rest of the day free.

Progress so far:

  • checked on indemnity insurance and am covered

  • selected on specific niche of my work suited to online consulting

  • set my fees

  • building my website (almost done)

  • found a secure, encrypted email system to use

Still To Do:

  • set up skype for online calls

  • set up payment system

  • create a set of downloads that clients can use

  • create a voice recording welcome to the site

  • create a set of videos that clients can use

  • run a trial, maybe offer a discount so I can test drive it

  • market the site

  • set specific working hours

Costs so far:

Registered a domain name $10
